Bank Examiner:  The Department of Banking and Consumer Finance is seeking someone to fill the position of bank examiner. The work requires knowledge of lending and bank operations. Chief Risk Officer: A Community Bank on the Mississippi Gulf Coast is seeking a Chief Risk Officer to develop and maintain the organization’s overall Enterprise Risk Management program; oversee the Risk Management, Compliance/BSA, Credit, and Audit Departments; and assist the bank in identifying, measuring, monitoring, and controlling risk throughout the organization, with an emphasis on credit risk, compliance risk, and operational risk. The Chief Risk Officer will:

  • Work in conjunction with the Chief Lending Officer to control credit risk and to promote quality work product amongst all lenders while providing clear direction and oversight in the formation and execution of credit policy and is responsible for the overall credit quality of the Bank’s loan portfolio.
  • Work with Chief Lending Officer to develop annual portfolio strategies, and provide guidance on portfolio management and production.
  • Oversee and support the activities of the Compliance to ensure compliance with applicable consumer protection laws and regulation throughout the Bank.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the credit department to balance financial objectives with risk levels while remaining within the Bank’s risk tolerance.
  • Oversee the Bank’s internal and external audit programs.
  • Advise the President and Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors in areas of risk.
  • Oversee establishment of standards and procedures to ensure that compliance programs throughout the Bank are sufficient in identifying, preventing, detecting and correcting non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manage relationships with the federal and state regulatory agencies.
  • Stay abreast of regulations, legislation, and policy that directly affects the Bank’s lending program.
  • Create, review, and revise operating policies and procedures throughout the organization as needed to incorporate regulatory guidance and best practices and to limit risk (in conjunction with appropriate Business Unit Managers and Bank Committees).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, Finance and/or Economics. Masters’ in Business Administration preferred.
  • Prior bank regulatory experience is preferred.
  • Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP) certification.
  • 10-15 years of applicable experience using knowledge and understanding of credit risks and controls.
  • 3-5 years of experience as Manager and skilled influencer, establishing trust, confidence, and credibility with senior leaders, executives, and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong quantitative background, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated self-starter who works well in rapidly changing environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.
